THE SILENT PISTOLS

"Rest In Pieces"

Misty Circles / Dischi Gatto Alieno - 2007

They are back once again, the most bizarre band of the Italian underground: The Silent Pistols! You might remember about these guys' previous releases, ultra-limited arty items where there's no music or sound at all to listen. We're talking about the heroes of silence, so no surprise. This time, however, things have changed a lot.

First of all, "Rest In Pieces" is a DVD release, which means that there's a video to watch with soundtrack. Apparently it has to do with the demolition of part of someone's house, maybe one of the Pistol's himself. The footage shows the band in action while performing this act of destruction, and the noises made by their hammers, saws and pickaxes have been recorded and mixed in order to create rhythmic pieces of old-school industrial. So, it's official, on this release you can finally listen to The Silent Pistols! It would be great to enjoy to a full-length release with this kind of sound, but it would probably be against the band's attitude.

You shouldn't need further details to rush out or on the web looking for "Rest In Pieces", but it's surely worth adding that all of the very few copies pressed come with an original part of the demolished flint or bar wall, making each of them therefore unique. Another crazy chapter in the story of this bizarre non-musical entity has been written.
