MOLJEBKA PVLSE

"Sadalsuud"

Some Place Else - 2007

CD

A new step in Moljebka Pvlse's prolific career, started with "Koan" on Eibon Records in 2000 and following "Sadalmeik" on Cold Meat Industry in 2002, is now released by Niko Skorpio's Some Place Else. If you are familiar with Mathias Josefson's creature you know what to expect: hypnotic drones, minimal ambient landscapes, field recordings, distant voices, and several other sound elements. "Sadalsuud" features all the above in one single track which is a gigantic sound collage of about 70 minutes.

Beside Josefson himself, other nine people took part to the recording process of this new CD, enhancing Moljebka Pvlse's sound with a lot of instruments and interesting inputs. Particularly evident in the last 20 minutes is a large amount of noise, dissonance, machinery loops and distortion, which turns the music as industrial as ever and, in a few passages, very close to the experiments of early Severed Heads and NON. The first part is, on the contrary, quiet and minimal, but equally disturbing because of the whispered female voice and the distant pulsations of the field recordings.

Moljebka Pvlse's new effort will surely please every cultist of the most subtle and unsettling ambient / drone / experimental music, while probably those looking for the grandeur of darkambient will need a more attentive listening to enjoy the atmospheres of "Sadalsuud". Accessibility is surely not its main feature, and, having the CD one single track, you will have to listen to it in its entire running time to truly appreciate it.
