"Fire And Glass: A Norwood Tragedy"

Cold Spring - 2007

mini CD

The new four-track EP by Anglo / Dutch neoclassical stars H.E.R.R. tells us the story of the Crystal Palace, a masterpiece of architecture erected in the centre of Victorian London in occasion of the Great Exhibition of 1854, as a symbol of power and prosperity, eventually destroyed by fire in 1936. The group uses its tragic story as a metaphor for the rise and fall of the British Empire itself across the 19th and 20th Century. Troy Southgate recites the words in a passionate and involving way his elegant British accent, while Michiel Spapé creates powerful and dramatic orchestral tunes that perfectly fit to the intensity of the story, assisted by Oskar Van Dijk's cello.

The result couldn't be but excellent, as H.E.R.R. manage to achieve such elegance and formal perfection unknown to most of the "martial industrial" scene. "Fire And Glass: A Norwood Tragedy" is supposedly a taste for an upcoming new full-length, hopefully soon to see the light. Meanwhile, if you appreciated the previous deeds of the Anglo / Dutch group, don't miss this new proof of their mastery.
