GEROSTENKORP
"Le Mécanisme De L'Aube"
Cauldron Music / OPN - 2006
CDr - 100 copies
Gerostenkorp comes from France and introduces the listener to a subtle, cinematic blend of dark ambient and industrial noises, created using effective keyboard soundtracks and a large variety of sound sources. "Le Mécanisme De L'Aube" marks its debut through the joint forces of Cauldron Music and OPN. This full-length CDr contains 14 tracks and is limited to 100 copies.
The music of this French project shows many different influences, from the north European school of Cold Meat Industry (in particular Mz. 412 and Archon Satani), to the American noisescape pioneers Illusion Of Safety, but the results are fortunately very far from a simple cut-and-paste of things already known. The metal percussions of "Coeur D'Ébène", the disturbing voodoo ritual of "Afrikindian Mozolé" and "Les Géants De Fer", the mechanical and obsessive "L'Horloge Hydraulique" and "Pensionnaire", the epic and emotional "Corps À Corps" and "Orchidées Sauvage", the melancholic industrial sonata of "D'Un Ciel Orange", each possesses distinctive features and sounds equally beautiful and interesting.
"Le Mécanisme De L'Aube" might not be the most original or groundbreaking release of the year, still it's a refined and intriguing work that won't fail to stimulate your subconscious and assure several intense listening experiences. Headphones and a dim-lighted environment are recommended to fully enjoy Gerostenkorp's delicate and disturbing atmospheres.
