"Journey To The Center Of Noise"

Deserted Factory - 2007

CD / CD + DVD

Here again we have our favourite Post-Industrial Trumpeter, punctual as always with a brand-new crazy release. While his discography is slowly going to reach in numbers those of Merzbow or Bill Laswell, this time it's Japanese label Deserted Factory to produce this new CD-R, in A4 format cover, titled "Journey To The Center Of Noise". The sexy belly on front introduces us into this new 11 tracks collection, all assembled through insane suture experiments led at Gattoalieno studios. The raw material of these sonic Frankensteins are recordings done by DBPIT in his travels round the world, it's sounds and noises of everyday life that, mixed and transformed, become the ingredients of truly impressive noise cocktails.

It's the case of the Berlin underground that appears in a track appropriately titled "U-Bahn - Live In Tokyo 29/12/06", the Paris fountain in the fantastic "Life Is A Stray Bullet" ("life is a stray bullet / you have to duck" - brilliant!), or the bells of the church in Oliveto turning into the deafening hisses of "Bells Of The Distant Fate", the Ohio insects and the music box sharing the stage of "Zombie Bugs", and more, chainsaws, Riga trains, London underground, Budapest buses, Helsinki traffic lights... every sound source, every noise of everyday life is sampled, filtered, deformed, treated, becoming the pillar of a musical piece (or anti-musical, if you prefer).

There are, of course, also parts played in the studio and some illustrious hosts, among which there are Circus Joy's MarioFOB, ClauDEDI (aka MALATO), Ain Soph's Spectre, KimsonJa of White Rabbit, and the usual, omnipresent Kenji Siratori. The impressions about "Journey To The Center Of Noise" can't be but very positive: the CD's central idea, although already tested in the past, is here developed with absolute originality and inventiveness, showing that there is still much to do and say in the use of field recording and noise. D.B.P.I.T. again managed to go beyond the standards he had established in the previous releases and surprise the listener. The edition is of 150 copies only, so the advice is to rush getting your copy.
